About Us


The Columbia Neighborhood Watch is a private organization of approx. 4,000 volunteers who work for crime prevention in their respective neighborhoods.  

CNW is a member of the National Town Watch Association.  CNW, as a private organization, is not part of the city government, nor is it funded by the City of Columbia.  However, CNW is affiliated with the Columbia Police Dept. for technical advice. 

CNW is a private, non-profit corporation, chartered by the State of Missouri in the mid-1970's, and has been designated by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) Public Charity.  CNW depends on contributions for its annual funding of approx. $3,000.  All contributions made to CNW are eligible for a charitable tax deduction under appropriate federal law.
